    Hey everyone

I have a question. I was reading today that it is necessary to feed the live rock. Now I understand that the Bacteria on the rock is what makes it live but the atrical I was reading said that you also need to add Calcium, Iodine, Strontium and other Trace Elements to your marine aquarium’s water as the health supplements for Live Rock.

Can you please help me out.. I am only planning at this time for a FOWLR and I am in the process of cycling the tank so I have not really even decided on the fish yet (OMG the internet is an evil thing... too many options *sigh*)

Eh, you don't have to supplement the stuff you mentioned. To me, feeding the liverock is, feeding it ammonia. Which is fish poo for instance.

I have never in my time in the hobby ever heard of feeding L/R all it needs are the minerals and elements that are in the salt and any additives to support the coralline growth. The nitrification cycle feeds the bacteria in and on the rocks , And unless you are experienced with dosing strontium and have a heavy SPS load then best leave it alone and learn slowly as for the per mixed Stront and Moly in a bottle its so weak its not worth bringing home its 98% water you would see little if any benefits from dosing it Ca Carbonates and Magnesium are about all you kneed to worry with starting out.

As for the Internet LIL I totally agree there are more over night expert reefers now then I ever knew existed 15 yrs ago . I call them reading repeaters and google reefers :)

And I'd not waste my money on L/R anyways for a reef or fish only use base rock and cycle it for a few months then all that cheap dry dead rock will become alive just as the 5.00 pluse a pound wet stuff is..

As mentioned above you don't feed. Just maintain a regular water change schedule and all of the elements you mentioned will be provided in the salt mix.;D
