Ok I have a 100gal new tank picking up tonight, 30 gal sump with AquaEuro 135. The LFS has both Live Rock in a tank that has a lot of corollin on it and then some that came in today in 50lb boxes the cured is 3.99 a pound and the stuff in the boxes is 2.99 a pound.

If this were you new set up what would you get and how would you cure it, in the new display tank or in buckets with salt water. I am putting 80lbs of Live sand in display tank as I dont want the entire floor coverd and want the sand to be thin, i think it looks way cooler that way then 2 inches of sand.

Any help before I pick this up would be greatly appreaciated.

    Thanks,
    razorack--

Two inches of sand isn't that much.

As for the rock, I bought the cured ($3.99 a pound is really good, in my area it's like $8.99). You can buy base rock for cheaper and put it in your tank and buy a few pounds of live rock so that it will seed the base rock.

I have 1.5 to 2 in my tank. And JS is right on about the base rock. That is the way to go.

I would do what JS said also. But, on that fact, 3.99 is cheap for LR. It's 6.99 here. But I still prefer base. You won't get any of the pests with base. The base will cure naturallly as your tank cycles. Later on if you want to get the coraline going, get a small rock or frag with a decent amount, or your LFS will probably just give you shavings when they clean their tanks.

Man live rock is anywhere from 9.99 to 11.99 a lb here, once in a great while you can find base rock for 4.99lb.
