    remember only a tiny portion of the rock really needs to be live, a friend of mine set up a 300 gallon tank with 50lbs. of live rock, and about 400 of dry rock and the tank took off immediately and looked fantastic until he broke it down a few years ago.

    I would honestly do that. I ordered my dry rock from marco, and then went and got a small piece of LR from my LFS. It was only a small piece and everything has gone well. Good Luck!
