    Live rock is a form of filtration. It will definitely help.

    reefcleaners.org and marco rocks both carry great base rock

    Yes,perfectly fine,it actually adds more bio-diversity to the tank IMO,but like Corailline mentioned earlier,make sure it's fully cured before putting in your tank.
    Base rock can easily be ordered online.Live rock,I would purchase locally to keep die off at a minimum and reduce the chances of cycling in your tank.
