A buddy of mine is going to give me some of his live rock. Do I have anything to worry about?

The plus is it will have coralline algae, maybe some snails or hermits. Worse case it can have teddy bear crabs, aptasia, or anything that can affect a reef. You can nook it to be safe but as I said that's worse case scenario.

if your getting live rock there is always going to be a chance of getting a bad hitchhiker.
not to much you can do about it other than inspect the rock before putting it in the tank.
thats why i got dry rock lol

Free live rock comes with goods and bads. Unfortunately, you can't do much about the bad. If it were me, I would put it in QT and monitor what comes "out" of the rock and do my best to remove as much of the unwanted hitchhikers as I could.
