Two days ago, I was out of the house for a night. That night, various members of my family went to an LFS and bought a bunch of rock to finish my structure. The problem is, when I looked at it, it didn't look like dead coral skeleton, which is what live rock is, it looks like normal stone, almost like slate. Should I take this out of my tank? The LFS apparently marketed it as live rock, but it doesn't seem like it to me.

Take it out. I might have traces of metal in it.

I see some LFS around here selling what they are calling "lace rock" that really has that slate look to it.

+1 with Matt on the pics!
