    Here is what my tank looks like, can some one tell me why the live rocks started haveing these white spots on 2 of the live rocks and not the other ones. All have been in the tank the same time approx 6 weeks, and just started with brown alge 2 days ago

    That is die off (the things that were live in the rock that did not make it) Did you cure your rock????--It is normal and the coraline algae will grow over it in a few months

    The rock was already cured

    Did the LFS say it was cured or do you know for sure?--i saw a store run out of rock one day and just dump in a new box under the sign that said "Cured Live Rock" I always cure mine for about 2 weeks and then check ammonia and nitrite before it goes in--I still get die off though--I actually like some of it--looks cool!!!

    I know for sure it was cured, I had a friend who has a 500 gal reef tank and has been dealing with this lfs for years and knows the owner, go with me to the lfs, and introduced us, he was also there and looked at the rock too.

    Cool then I would not worry about it--Just enjoy all the cool stuff that is about to happen in your tank---dont worry about the diatom algae it will go away--just looks bad for a time

    Cool---They make short work of that algae--You will see a big difference fast
