I've been using Kolorscape from Ace Hardware for over 4 years in my 90 with no problems at all. The Kolorscape says right on the bag that its not intended for aquarium use. Its just a ploy to allow the aquarium trade corner the market on aragonite sand. And if you GIS "play sand for my tank" you'll get a bazillion hits. I've read a lot about the silica debate and if the grain is too sharp and all the other stuff said about sand and have come to the conclusion that it's really up to the tank owner.

well my sand arrived today from the ebay seller the op mentioned. from what I can see it is quality. obviously i cannot see "live" things, but the sand was drained before weighing and sent to me damp. so i did not have to pay for water weight. plus I got some free phytoplankton in my box(came in a jar) and the lava rubble(which I did not put in as I don't see the purpose. I know the cons of lava rock, but I have some in my tank and have never had any problems. Also I got those dang damsels out. they await their trip to the LFS in a bucket til morning.

NOTE TO ALL WHO WANT NOT TO BE A FAILURE!!!!! AQUASCAPE BEFORE SAND AND WATER. WHAT A MESS. I learned a lesson though.

Also the sand shipped really fast, especially considering I ordered right before a holiday weekend.

    Hope this helps.
