Live Sand turning brown

    My live sand is turning brown. What does this mean?

    Diatoms? Is your tank new?

    A pic would help, but it's probably diatoms (common in new tanks) which will disappear on their own once they've depleted the silicates in your system.

    Yes. It is going into maybe my 2nd month. the sand is brown and i'm seeing spots on my glass. It happen all of a sudden.

    Welcome to your Diatom and Cyanbacteria bloom.

    It gets better and then changes to perhaps a GHA bloom and then 3-6 months down the road Coralline.

    As long as you use RO/DI, do not over feed and have enough flow it usually resolves on it's own.

    Looks like a dusting of Diatoms.

    You need more rock, is that lava rock?

    Yes i plan on getting more rock, Im just looking for a certain shape. But i don't think it is, i honestly forgot.

    That tank is so pristine, it looks like it's empty of water LOL....
