    good point! I've heard of bad things, but its been from the crap ya buy at Lowes etc that is harvested.

    My tank seems to doing fine. I have had the lava rock in there for a week or so and seen no change until now. My fish, fire shrimp and my crabs all have been doing fine so i have no reason to think that it is a bad rock. How would i know when my tank is about to crash? Are these some of the symptoms?

    Not at all. Diatoms, cyano, GHA, etc are all phases of the maturing process. Just keep up with your routine maintenance and in a few months everything will disappear, leaving you with a clean, healthy environment for your wet pets.
