so i have like 70 pounds or so of live sand that came with a tank, but it was REALLY DIRTY so i got a hose and cleaned out everything so it didnt smell, then i let it sit for a week, and it smelt really really really badly, so then i am starting to take it out in little sections and pout them into different buckets, and letting them dry completely, so i have done a couple of them, and they dont smell, so when i set up my new tank, can i just throw that sand in there, and my live sand that in from my other tank?

I don't see why not? sand is just another type of substrate and if he ever use any cooper would be your only prob. As live sand even when new it's got an expiration date in the bag, after that date it's pretty much dead sand, but there is always the micro fauna, or ammonia that will start your cycle over again
