I have asked this question on another forum but would like to get the advice of people on here. I like this forum a lot more and value peoples opinions here a lot more as well.

Anyway, I have a friend who sells live rock, he buys dry rock cheap or from people getting out of the hobby and he puts it in his huge sump in his basement and sells it to people. I can get it for 2 $ a lb. Should I buy all my rock from him, OR buy some dry and then buy a little from him to seed? I'm torn and I need advice lol.

I would do 3/4 dry and 1/4 live rock. And do 100% live sand.

For $2.00 a pound go straight live rock as long as you get pieces with shapes you like. No reason to do dry at that price.

i usually order all dry rock like from marco rocks, or reefcleaners, then i throw in one or two pieces of very high quality live rock and everything else takes off.

I used Marco Rock and seeded with live rock.... but if you can get all live rock at $2 a pound and it is good quality stuff, I would do that. If he has got pieces you like and they don't have any bad stuff(aiptasia etc...), then buy his stuff. You would be paying about that for dry rock from Marco's anyway.

I'd say Marco. One pound of Marco is bigger than one pound of reefcleaners.

yeah marco rock is not as dense as reefcleaners, although they both have great quality dry rock.
