 Ive been lookin high and low for these guys, but I just bought them. I got a pair of tank bred flame angels!! The female is 1 inch, and the male is 2.5 -3 inches. They will be here tuesday morning. Or they better be, Monkey knows what im talking about here!!! I have the worst next day shipping here. It has to come ups, or fedex. It is so hard to find tank bred angels, so I jumped on these. Im doing everything I can to keep fish in the ocean. All my corals, and 90% of my fish are tank bred!! Plus with these angels being tank bred, they havent got a taste for corals, so hopfully they will just stick with prepared foods!! Wish me luck!!!

    Hey Birchell,

CONGRATS! Flame angels are one of my favorite fish. Not the most interesting personalities, but beautiful.

Thanks bud!! They have been one of favorites even before I started a saltwater tank!! Now that I have a pair, it is all I can do to not jump for joy, . Ive been reading up on them, and realy hope to have a spawning pair in a few months. Tank bred fish are in high demand right now, because people are finaly figuring out that fish are going down in number fast in the ocean. It was reported that over 200,000 yellow tangs are harvested every year just from Hawaii !! That is why it is so important to buy tank bred when avalible.. I bet in the next 10 years they will be farm breeding most of the popular saltwater fish. And that will help us out alot! We will get healthier fish, and they will be used to captivity, so feeding will be alot easier.

As far as I know... There is only one place that successfully breeds flame angels and they are in HI. They will not reveal their secrets though, lol. I have seen pics of their facility and they use black plastic 55g drums for rearing tanks. Raising angels is a lot harder then raising clowns and clowns are not easy by a long shot. Thats why its so hard to find tank bred angels.

Im am truly happy for you, and that they are finally selling the tank bred angels.

    Good look bro!

Thanks for the luck!! I know it will be almost imposible for me to raise them to juvis. The larval stage is 72+ days!!! Clowns is like a week, lol. These are from Hawaii, so I know the colors will be great. And I know that they are from two different spawns. And are less than a year old!! That leave me alot of tank time. You can find tank bred angels, you just have to look hard, and be willing to pay the 30-50% mark up of the wild ones. I hope one day angels, and other fish, are as easy to find tank bred as clowns!!

Best way to get corals or fish is through captivity> More ahrdy and easier to keep. Wild corals and fish don't have anywhere near the successful track record as captive bred IMO!
    Good pick up Michael!
