Anyone have a lobster in their reef? I was told that with caution they are reef safe as long as they have enough room. I'm in love with the blue spiny lobster and Debelius lobster. I didn't buy it because no one in my tank is aggressive at this point and thats the last thing i want. but they are beautiful to look at

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They are beautiful, but in a tank with a lot of live rock they hide during the day, as they are nocturnal. IMO in the long run they are not reef safe, especially as they grow and get older.

I have had both the blue and the red and they did not eat any inverts that I know of, but I never saw them and after I got some clams and more expensive inverts I got rid of them. A couple of people I have known had problems with them not only eating inverts but the occasional fish, but they behaved for me, I just not willing to risk an expensive clam.

I love the pattern to the blue ones though, but again they hide too much for my liking. I want to see my critters.

i agree! i love my fire shrimp but he hides a lot. only comes out to feed he's only been in the tank a week. I can't imagine the lobster coming out maybe once or twice in a year! lol

Don't give up on your fire shrimp sometimes it can take a long time for them to settle in. ;D

I commented at a local LFS about a purple reef lobster they had in with their baby clowns. The guy heard me & immediately exclaimed that they won't eat the fish. I said "Really? Cuz it's eating one right now!" LMAO

Actually, you could tell it was an already dead fish, but I thought it was funny. I wanted one a long time ago, but never got one because of the risk of them eating stuff I didn't want them to.
