Turbo I am guessing your 40 is not like my 90 which sounds like Niagara Falls when the water is passing through the sump.

I have my 55 in the bedroom. Noise isnt a problem unless the skimmer is acting up or the turbos are getting friendly with the powerheads ha...though i do miss the water noise since moving to the dorm.

I have a small bowfront FW in my bedroom with all the filtrartion in the hood which makes a nice very unnoticable trickling sound, but hey I go to sleep with a white noise machine that is the ocean (obviously a reefer lol) and I am going to have a 55 in my office, I already have an anole (lizard reptile) habitat in there and it is starting to look like the zoo! lol! If I ever become a millionaire, I am going to build a house with a fish tank in every room all tied to a sump in the basement! lo!l!
