Glad they are they are doing great! Yeah, the clowns in my tank stick together all the time as well. Any sign of diatoms?

I had brown spots all over my sand and sprinkled on the base rock, not heavily on the rock though. It didn't last long and never got out of control. Theres still a few patches in the sand bed.

I wonder if it should have been worse than that though? Or maybe there is more to come :p

Something I have noticed is a few days ago my fuge sand had black slimy spots on the sand with little bubbles in it. I believe its cyano? It's spread a little to one of the live rock pieces I have in my DT today

A few things I think could be causing it - what do you all think?

    - My tank temp is usually around 79 without MH and can climb up to 82 when the lights are on. Too hot?

    - The MH bulbs are being replaced soon, the guy said he ran them less than a year, but just to be safe.

    - Not enough flow? Idk how much is running through my sump but I have two 750 koralias running now, with a 1400 on the way

    - The light in my sump might be too powerful and close to the sand in the fuge? (two 18w t5 bulbs) This is where the algae started and is most prominent.

Sounds like cyano.... They need PO4/NO3 and dont need much. I had cyano creep in my DT but PO or NO3 were never detectable. They tend to grow in low flow area as well. Maybe time to think about GFO or BioPellets? My case, the BioPellets took care of them.

Heres a couple pics of the nastiness in my sump and one more of the clowns!

UPS tracking says my stuff should be here today - i go back to work in an hour so I'll get some pics if it's here when I get home.

I got some homework to do on how to run GFO as I don't have a clue yet :p I also need to get some cheato in the sump soon

(I think when I re-do the sump chambers I'm going to trash that sand and buy a new bag for a DSB down there)

Before GFO or BP, gotta try some macro algae first, duh! Never had luck keeping macro in my system (current and old).
