Nothing better than waiting for the ups man right? :p

I haven't got the new stuff hooked up yet. Hopefully will get the time to play around with it tonight. I've got two Koralia's hooked up right now and they're working well. Nothing with as much flow as the mag6 tho

Wow, the skimmer actually fit in the first chamber of the sump, I didn't even have to take it apart! :2thumbsup

Just two questions about it now. It came with an extra hose which I think is for the drain hole, and a pinwheel. The skimmer looks fully assembled so is this just a spare part?

It also says not to run the skimmer with newly mixed saltwater b/c the skimmer will overflow. I'm doing a water change through my sump today so should I wait a few hours before turning it on, or overnight?

Congratz, the skimmer fits!!! The extra hose, that I have it but it's not hooked up, since I dont mind cleaning the collection cup every week. But it's safer to use the hose and let it drain in a bigger collection container. I leave the skimmer on during and after the regular water change. Have no idea about the pinwheel tho. My 160 didnt come with any.

It will take a while (like 5~7 days for me) for the skimmer to break in. If you turn it on, the bubbles/water wont come close to the neck. Just turn it on, sit in front of it, watch it close :) Just one thing tho, Id turn and place the skimmer so you can see the water outlet hole from front or side at least if you can, like this.

I love how quiet this thing is you can't even tell it's on!!

So after browsing around this great forum some more - I think I'm going to order the BRS dual GFO/Carbon reactors tomorrow! I already have a spare Maxi Jet 1200 I can hook it up to so why not ;D

Dual? Any specific reason for that? Space? I have two single reactors, GAC and BioPellets. I was told to go two singles by several members here and Im glad that I took that route because you can individually control the flow of the reactors.

Kind of related to your cyano issue, have you read the Steve Write's Carbon Dosing thread? It's basically about how to remove/lower NO3 and PO4 (nitrate and phosphate) from the system. Great experiment that he did.

Space is an issue, also trying to save anywhere I can b/c new light bulbs are next on the list. Also wouldn't I need to buy a second pump?

I did read the advantages of running two single reactors, so I'll put some more thought into this before I rush to order anything

So i come home from work last night, and my friends here and tells me to look at my tank. He brought a couple corals over from his tank and put them in there. Pretty awesome surprise! I'll try to get some decent pics when the halides come on
