    all cleaned up

Just waiting on my overflow from glass-hole so I can drill and finish all the plumbing! One step at a time.. funny thing is when I bought this set the back of the tank was painted black. I scraped it off thinking I want to do deep blue. Now I'm leaning towards doing black anyways :p

cool buy an it looks great so far. I am setting uo a 75 and still cant get the light or the skimmer for a while so you are ahead of the game IMO.

I would definatly look into tradding the t-12 to t5 or even leds but you may find that with the right halide in there you wont need them.

Thanks, I feel i got lucky to get everything at once like that. I'm way under budget for now ;D. I know the t5's are better, but I'm not very knowledgeable about hooking that stuff up. I assume I'd need to buy a new ballast and fittings to switch from t12 to t5.

I was thinking about using this for LED moonlights though:

PS - good luck with your 75! One thing this hobby does teach is patience huh? lol

LOL that or you have to be a millionare!!! LOL BTW the t-12 will work but they use more electricty and cause more heat.

+1, My LFS uses T12s but like their MH lights they are are mounted 2 1/2 feet above the tank to help dissapate the heat. Since you have everything inside a canopy, even though it has fans, I would switch to T5s so the fans can dissapate the heat from the MH lights. Another thought for the heat if you choose to keep the T12s is to cut a few slits in the top of the canopy to allow better geat exchange as the hot air will rise out these holes while the fans will help circulate cooler air back inside.

Overflow box came today - glass-holes is quick! And of course I got the candy lol. Also bought all my tubing from lowes today.

Waiting on my roommate to get home and then taking the tank outside to drill. A little nervous, but theres a sticker on the bottom that says "bottom is tempered glass do not drill". figured that means the back is safe to drill :p

ill post pictures soon, wish me luck

Drilling went well, took about 10 minutes. Had the tank in the car port for the past 2 days painting it. The neighbors cats must have got into the tank overnight (it was on its side) bc there were paw prints and a few new scratches. :annoyed: lol

overall though i'm happy with how the blue looks. it was krylon navy, and i finished it off with a coat of black to help any spots where light may show through. Might paint the fake wood grain trim on the tank too, since it doesnt match the stand. IDK

    Looking gooood!
One piece of advice of taking pics tho, try not to use the flash on the camera. It would look 100x better without it.

thanks! I ordered a new pump for the skimmer and a spectrapure RO/DI unit last week, should be getting here soon.

Got all new PVC piping for the skimmer and a tube for the overflow elbow.

Next on the shopping list: 50lb dry/5lb fiji rock from marcorocks, and 80 lbs of sand (will this be enough?)

Then I should have everything I need to fill up and start cycling right?
