the frogspawn in my 20 gallon does use some of my calcium but its slow to the point of turtle slow, goes from 480 to 440 over the course of 2 months or so vs before I was only losing 20 ppm over two months. I want to see some FTS pics though ;D

I would love a frogspawn for my 20 gallon.

Kinda makes sense tho, cyanos like/need lights (and PO4/NO3) to live. You might wanna cut back some light schedule while you're at it? Is the snail touching the cyano cr4p? When you do the regular water change next time, try to siphon out the thickest patch of cyano. If it comes right back, they are still thriving, if not, well Id suck the most out!

I siphoned out a small chunk of it last week and it hasn't come back yet. So thats encouraging! I'm worried though because its hard not to suck out sand too

    Good! lol
Yeah I thought I was the same way, but I just liked the whiter sand better :p
If you really want to save the sand, dump most of the water out, keep it in the container for a while, leave it until the cyano dies off. Rinse and put it back to the tank later. I dont think it would shock the tank.

Good point! I was wondering if it would be okay to do that. Looks like I'm gonna mix a few gallons of water tonight and siphon me some cyano tomorrow 8) lol

Ok the cyano is siphoned out - did about a 5g water change in the process :p man I forgot what my sand bed looked like - it's a whole new tank now!

Now hopefully we can keep it out! ;) I'm lowering feedings and light schedule. And I finally have my skimmer fine tuned - it's a beautifully disgusting thing LOL

    (just for note):
    Old Light Schedule:
    t12 actinics on from 11am-10pm
    MH's on from 12pm-8pm

    Now:
t12's run from 1pm-3pm, then go off when the MH comes on
    MH from 3pm-8pm
    t12s back on from 8-10pm

Glad to hear it's cleaning up well! You had those MH's running for quite a while on the old schedule. I'm about to place an order for some DIY LED's, it's time to bite the bullet.
