    thanks bro!

30 bucks  not too bad right? lol

I put a little glue on a small rock and pressed the white trunk part down on it for a couple seconds. It ended up blowing off again after a few hours though. It always ends up under a gap in the scape. Should I leave it be or try again?

Well leathers cannot be glued. If it gets on to the flesh it will slowly absorb the chemicals and die. I would just take a rock and gently rubber band it down, it will attach on its own. Then you can glue the rock down from there.

I wanted to follow up with what I hope was the solution to my earlier problem of the skimmer pulling slime and the debris all over everything in my sump. Sorry this is going to be a lot of pictures and therefor pretty lengthy :p

The problem started shortly after adding my dual reactors running carbon and gfo. I know the gfo is supposed to lightly tumble, but the valve is hard to make fine adjustments too so when setting it, flow got too high and some gfo got too fine and made it through the reactors and back into the tank.

I siphoned out as much as I could and took apart the skimmer and cleaned it with the return pump and reactors. The skimmer had this dust all over and inside of it.

Now some before and after pics from down there:

return pump, where the outlet hose from the reactors was aimed at.

skimmer chamber before. No wonder it wasn't getting much of a foam head!

Nice! I love clean body skimmers. Even tho its PITA to take it out the sump, its worth it. I should do it every 2 months at least.

Was there any crap trapped in the height-adjusting eggcrate stash under the skimmer?

true, you gotta angle it jussssst right lol! luckily it's so easy to tear apart and put back together. "even a caveman can do it" :p

yeah it was everywhere you could imagine. It's suggested at 5-8", I used to only have 2 pieces but I recently made it 4 so I'm running around 6 3/4" depth now. I'm going to make a better stage for it to sit on soon and get those outta there

I run filter socks when I do water changes or add carbon or GFO to my reactor. Polishes water and helps with accidents/emergancies!

Thanks I'm gonna have to pick some up. Anything we can do to avoid accidents turning bad is worth it IMO lol

Speaking of which, I will probably also use the tube that runs from the bottom of my collection cup into a gallon jug. Not that I plan on letting that much skimmate go before emptying it, but just incase something causes it to freak out and fill quickly. Wouldn't want that nasty stuff overflowing into the sump water. Better safe than sorry!
