I dont think its the flow issue either... It was the rock (Pukani) in my case, but.. JB had a bad cyano problem, was running GFO and carbon just like you and he added BioPellets before he completely switched to BP, still had some weird cyano/algae issue, so he took the GFO offline, and boom, the cyano was gone. I know everyone's tank is different, but you might wanna check out his thread?

A month ago or so, I wasnt getting enough bubbles so I cleaned the hell out of my skimmer. The airintake was clogged with the calcium deposit. You might wanna check it as well.

Is the chaeto growing? I never had luck with macro algae, if so, you dont have to change the light, I dont think.

It doesn't seem to be growing. I read your thread where you said the airintake was clogged so I made sure I checked that when I had the skimmer apart the other day, thank you! I'll check out the link you posted too - I'm willing to try anything :p

I appreciate you always taking the time to help. Hope you and your family had a great Christmas btw!

My case, chaeto/calurpa never grew. They just dissipated. But yours looks dark green and healthy.

I just added a stash of eggcrate, the skimmer seems to be working better now.

Thanks, Logan, we did have a great Christmas! My three year old was so happy about the whole Christmas spirit (mainly the new toys), we started out with going out to the mountain to cut a tree on our own (costs only 5 bucks). I hope you had a blast as well! :)

I lowered mine to about 7 1/4" depth it seems to be working better too!

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun! Mine was really good too thanks. I don't have kids but its gotta be really cool seeing how excited they get Christmas morning!

Oh and Sticksmith - I went to the pet store with my roommate to get rats to feed his snakes, and picked up a box of that Microbe-Lift Bacteria, and a bigger hose to siphon out the mess thats on the sand now. I'll keep ya'll posted :)

I just looked and I got some of that MicroBactor7 when I got all those products! Good stuff?

I've been dosing that kh buffer for a week now and raised it from 5.9 to 6.8 so far. All other levels I can test for are good too.

If you get a second check out this spreadsheet I attached, it keeps a tank log of test results and changes made, and at the bottom I have different page tabs for dosing, FTS's and growth. I'm no pro think it's pretty cool :p

Yeah, I would really like to know how you like it. ;D

I love Microbactor7! :) Also check out reefstorm.com. It is a new website that another member pointed out to me. Seems to be a cool tool for us all to use for free! :)

Spent the better part of the afternoon buying parts & hooking my RO/DI up in the basement off the washer line. Previously I had the outside hose running up to the kitchen window, and the spectrapure hanging on the wall with a tote or two underneath :p With winter here that wasn't doable anymore, and it cleared up some space too lol

I did about a 4g WC a couple days ago when I cleaned the sump out, so I'm gonna siphon all the cyano I can tonight and do another 4-5g WC. Right on schedule for my bi-weekly so it works out. Tonight I will begin the Microb-Light special blend bacteria.

It slipped my mind but the actinics I'm running are about a year old. Could be another cause cyano. I'm cutting them off and only going to run the halides until I can get new t12's shipped. Not sure how long I'll run them for yet, they're probably a month old and have been on 5hrs since. Maybe bump it to 7 or 8 for a week. By then the new bulbs should be here.
