Sorry Logan, I loled when I imagined a garden hose going in the house through the kitchen window.

Sounds like a plan! I really want you to beat this sucker (cyano)!

From my understanding that could be an issue when dealing cyano. ;D

oh it was classier than that! The garden hose just came to the outside of the window, I stuck the RO/DI input out the window LOL. People who drove or walked by must have been like "***?!"

I know right? I wish there was a smiley face icon for smacking myself in the head lol

Lol to both. The RO/DI thing sounds like something I would do. What works, works right. ;D

Something else interesting about cyano - I read this on reefcleaners website

Warmer Water - Cyano tends to grow faster in warmer water than in cooler water (my temps 79 day 77 night)

Low Alkalinity- While not a cause, higher alkalinity tends to discourage cyano growth. (good thing I'm working on raising that!)

I didn't know either of those

A friend of mine, his system is at 75F at the highest, and used to be even 72F. And his system is gorgeous, FILLED with colonies of SPSs, just so you know. If you could gradually lower the temp, might be worth trying.
I have heard about raising the Alk for the battle against cyano. Do it!! (but do slowly)

Nice to know! I think I've been keeping it a little hot, but those halides burnnnn man lol. Def worth a try though it'll be easier with it being winter. Could always aim a small fan blowing over the water or something too

Been dosing 3 caps of the brightwell alkalin8.3 for nine days, and have gone from 5.9 to 7dkh. Its way under the recommended dosage, but it's raised my water about .3 each time. I've also been watching the pH and its slowly raised to 8.2 :)

Feel like I haven't updated in awhile. I took a turkey baster to my rocks for the first time a few days ago, and also siphoned out the cyano on the sand before starting the Microbe-Lite bacteria dosing. Also my halides seem to have burned off the deep blue look they had when I first hooked them up, and man they are looking great! Maybe it's a combination of all these things but the tank just looks so bright and clear lately.

Also when I got home tonight and looked in my sump, my skimmer is producing more foam than it ever has. Finally seems to be working correctly! :) For the longest time it was just making a soda fizz at the top of the neck, so this makes me happy!

Oh and just a quick word about bulkreefsupply.com - I placed an order at 3:30PM today and an hour later it was shipped. Tracking says it should be here thursday. How is that for awesome?!

    Thanks Smitty!

Unfortunately it's not all good news - my bigger clown killed the other one. The smaller one had torn up fins from hiding in holes in the rock and being chased around, and he had lost a lot of his color too in recent days. She is a real BH. But at least she's done torturing him
