hence my very subtle reference to chemical warfare.

haha touché! I've got a finger leather in the top middle of my tank as well. I'll have to do some reading, might end up taking them out of there. Maybe making sure they are far away from everything else and keeping fresh carbon in the reactor will help.. or maybe I don't have any idea what I'm talking about :p let the research begin lol

Thanks for bringing this to my attention btw! Sometimes I think I read so much trying to learn everything that certain things slip my mind.

If I understand this right, SPS&LPS defenses generally don't affect water quality since they use stinger tentacles or cells, but some softies excrete toxins to defend themselves.

Knowing this, I will be more careful what I buy for the tank for sure. No more semi-aggressive leathers, but I'm taking a chance with the two I got for now. If things go south for the hard corals, I'll sell or trade the leathers for more frags? haha

so no real updates I'm just bored and can't go longer longer than 3 days without posting something :p

I moved the leathers to their own corner, nothing within 8" of them but two mushrooms and a kenya.

Also put the trumpet coral on it's own little rock in the sand.

Noticed tonight my acro's didn't have their polyps out for the first time really. Will see how they're looking in the morning.

My temps been a little more steady. Lowest I've seen it is 77 around 3am, and 5pm it hasn't been above 79.3. Still too much of a swing?

Glad to hear the temp swings are minimal. Thanks for the update!

I just looked at the temp log and the highest it goes is 78.8 and the low is 77.6 in my tank. These are the numbers in the sump where the heaters are. How quickly does it go down after the MH off? Im trying to stabilize my tank as well.

Are those acros have enough flow? How high is the rack placed now? Do you think you change anything before and after you started to see the PE difference? How do they look during the lights out? (I use a minimal flash light to see how they are during the night time.)

Halides have been off almost 4 hours and it's 78.2 now.

If you can see it in this picture I have a 750 behind the rocks. It's hidden unless you enlarge it. Then theres another 750 facing the front glass, but I moved that back to the left wall b/c it was moving sand there. On the far right is a 1400

Last sunday I moved the rack up about 3", was trying to take it slow. It looked like the bottlebrush was starting to lose color after 2 days or so, so I moved them back down to the original position seen in the picture.

When I got home from work about an hour ago the bottlebrush frag is completely white with little purple or pink dots on it... Ugh
