It's done. The tissue was RTN even in the 2nd photo. If they aren't moving it is definitely not bugs, but always a good idea to dip everything new anyways ;)

thanks. it's out of the tank, just wanted to get a better pic first for you guys. gotta figure out what's killing my sps lol. I know those are a difficult one to keep. tank might just need maturing. or chemical warfare from those leathers. I think params stay somewhat stable, could still use improving though. two part dosing kit this week

SPS is a tricky set of coral to keep, but you will be shocked once it gets going and you figure it out, it seems much easier. Glad to hear about the 2 part, one of the secrets to success:)

thanks! where's the fun if it's not challenging right? lol
I'll get 'em down eventually with your guy's help

I keep reading the word "stability" when it comes to these. So I'm working on that.

In the meantime it's probably time for another fish add soon. Only got the one clown and CB angel still.

Yeah there are several major factors.

You need low PO4, stable alk/calc readings, good lighting, and low nitrate. A fuge helps tremendously if you don't have one running already.

Some new fish would be awesome though! Not to sound biased or anything, but you really should snag some cool wrasses haha

haha I was just admiring yours! I'm gonna add some clear mesh on my BRS order and frame a top for the tank soon.

The order will also include a PO4 test, and the two part dosing. Bulbs are all new and nitrate is closer to 0 than 5 on the api test. Chaeto in the fuge, not really growing though.

been staring at my BRS shopping card for about 15 minutes. I always forget to add something.

    - 2 part dosing total package small
    - extra dispensing pump (it only comes with 2?)
    - red sea coral pro salt 55g
    - clear 1/4" screening

they're sold out of the PO4 salifet test.. which sucks. Might see what the LFS has to offer

i was debating on getting a little pukani rock, but I think I might change around the scape a little instead. It's just too straight up-wall like, I feel like a lot of landscape facing the glass is being wasted by shadows and what not.

edit: shipping will be like $25 with the salt, so I'm thinking about shooting for $175 to get free shipping, I was only at 85 before. Sooo, Calcium Hanna Checker and 15 lbs pukani rock brings me just over. Hmmmmm

I would do any other Hanna checker before the calc.. Since 1.) the Hanna is a PITA to use on a regular basis, due to how insanely accurate it is, if your off at all at any step it reads wrong. And 2.) calc can be a wider range, not necessarily something that needs so much precision.

Maybe the PO4 Hanna with extra reagents since they don't have a salifert and your looking to keep sps.

Good advice thanks Atticus, that makes sense! I can't believe I've skipped on getting a PO4 test until now. And it's very important if I want to be successful with sps frags.

I'm also looking forward to building this screen top so I can get some of the fish I've been wanting! Any wrasse's you recommend that aren't overly difficult to keep, and would get along? (and not cost $200 LOL :p)

Haha. So many good ones. Lubbock's are easy, peaceful and can be beautiful.

Red headed solon wrasses are cool too, but don't get along with certain other wrasses. You can check Evolved Wrasse post to check which they don't play nice with.

Honestly, I am a wrasse nerd,

Go here:Wrasse Fish for Sale: Cleaner Wrasse and other Reef Safe Wrasse Species and pick any fish and I'll like it haha.
