good call Shin! lol I was in a hurry when I posted that last night and didn't even realize it left those off

hey thanks for replying! You're right about trying to get the temp lower, I'm going to try to bring it down a little slowly.
So far I've had a nice size birdsnest colony RTN, then two 1" acro frags, and now this one. Alk wasn't as stable with the other ones and there could have been other stressers as well. I know these are hard to maintain but I got good deals and couldn't resist trying. I think I'm just going to try to stay away from them for awhile though.

I just couldn't figure this one out, the only other thing I can think of was my acclimation. I floated the bag for half an hour then put it in, and I think I should have done a drip for an hour or so. Don't know what the params were at the store I got it from. (but RTN started after ~4 days, IDK if this would have happened faster if that was the cause)

Parameters do look good. I might consider moving the Alk up a bit though. Your acclimation is fine IMO. I have done the exact same acclimation for every acro bought, except for ones that have come from large transport, like reefapalooza, or shipping.

However, you could see a small bit of unhappy tissue right from when you brought it home. I'll re-post you photo and circle the area that I am referring too. It wasn't receding but did show discoloration along the ridge line where your RTN started.

Do you use Chiller to maintain the stable temp? I recommend you to lower the temp around 75F within 3F swing.

Wow thanks for digging that up Andrew! I didn't even notice. I'm learning pretty quickly what to look for when I'm picking things out though.

I started working towards getting the alk up using my two part dosing. I think my PH is falling a little at night so I'm gonna test PH twice a day for a week, and add alk at night (my 2nd day) about .5 dkh until I get around 9, then try to maintain in there.

Oh, and I'm also going to place an order for clear screening with BRS so I can build a top and maybe get a wrasse! ;)

Thanks I do think it would be good to lower it a bit

For now, this is what's left of it. I don't have high hopes for these guys, and I'm no experienced fragger by any means lol. But we'll see how they do in the next couple days. Maybe I should put them in different spots in the tank instead of on the rack?

The frags actually look good. I would probably leave them. IMO I wouldnt bother with a chiller... Your temp is fine and many natural reefs are 80-82 degrees.

Try upping the alk a bit slower just by dosing 2 times a day about 12 hours apart if possible. How much is your ph moving? Within a margin it shouldn't matter too much if it's moving just a tad.

Yeah no chiller, I'll pull out some fans on the sump if necessary. Next time I spend a couple hundred dollars it's gonna be on a vortech :p

The pH is a pain to read because I still have an API kit for it. It's 7.8ish at night and 8.0-8.2 during the light cycle.

lol thanks bud! That stupid crab was still hiding in there, he survived the dip. But not the fragging ;) muahaha

Your PH is fine then, I get that exact same range. Even with dosing ~20 times a day.
