One thing I want to mention is where you buy the coral.
I only buy corals from shops I can TRUST. Most of my corals came from Diver's Den. I know their price is little bit higher, but it is worth.
Also, their aquaculture frag is guaranteed for 30days, so you may want to try them.

I was thinking about your canopy. I remember you mentioning the temp goes up when the MH is on. Is the fan on the side wall of the canopy exhausting a lot of heat? It's still March and if the temp swing might be part of the issue, itd only get worse. Something you wanna consider.

That's good thinking! Ill have to look at it when I get home. There's a fan on both sides blowing air out.

I've also seen arguments for turning them around and blowing cool air in. But unless someone strongly suggests it, I'd rather not take it apart and mess with it lol.

You should put a thermometer and compare the difference between one in/one out or both out. If I remember correct, reefmonkey has a similar setup. I could be wrong.
Proper air movement could be very sufficient. Id reverse one of the fans, I have a feeling that you will see the difference.

Thanks Shin I'm going to take your advice, you've never led me wrong lol. Bringing cool air in and warm air out makes more sense.

I've been keeping a close eye on temp lately, even now past 2AM it's 78.4. Most days if it even hits 80, it's after they've been on for hours.
Say 79 is my base point. 78.1 is the lowest I've seen it on a cold night, and 80.2 is the highest I've caught it. (I'm going to order a 2nd thermometer just for peace of mind). Glad you suggested this now though, b/c its my first summer with the tank and I'd rather be prepared

Almost forgot.. after months of having coral fever, and consequently only having two lonely fish swimming around, I brought someone home tonight

Female squareback Anthias is my best guess

[edit] then again, it sorta looks like a lyretail too. I'm horrible at ID'ing stuff

Oh that is a pretty anthias. You should get a male to pair up.
