Thanks guys, since you both have swc cone's, I'm gonna look to you for advice!

Most of the junk seems to get caught in the neck, not the cup.

Here's a video of it running at the level I try to keep it at.

The vid looks good and if the skimmer acts that way the whole time, it shouldnt be that wet skimmate.. hmmm

I'm sure you have everything set up right, but it seems to me that the only reason your skimmer would act that way is if the water level isn't high enough.

Yeah I'm not sure.. I never thought I was skimming wet because the cup won't be full even if I went a week without dumping it. I guess I figured my cup water was yellowish because all the dark crud stuck to the neck and lid.

Thanks Smitty, I think the manual said 5-8" deep. I've got it sitting in 7 1/4". I could take the 2 eggcrates out and probably be around 8 though.

I'm gonna throw in another video of it about 13 hours later. I'll try any suggestions if it looks like it could be working better. Sorry if I seem like a rookie about all of this, but I still am :p

AFAIK they suggest 6-9" of water. I have mine in 9" and it cranks! Maybe try that?

I think stick was on the right track with why it may be running wetter than expected.

Unfortunately I got stuck into getting a 120 for multiple reasons. I think it was 5-8 but I'd have to dig up the manual I could be wrong. But if you all agree it looks like I'm skimming wet I'll drop it to 8" tomorrow. Thanks to you all for pointing it out to me!

Ah, didn't realize it was the smaller one. You are right, 5-8". Try lowering it IMO you can always raise it back up. Open the air silencer all the way and set the bubbles to where they sit right where the cup meets the neck and see what happens from there.

The last week I've been trying to get my heat down. It was a constant 78-80 for as long as I can remember. I turned the heater down so it doesn't kick on until it gets down to 75.5. The bad part is, it's still peaking at 80 after the lights have been on several hours.. So now instead of only having a 2 degree swing, I'm more around 4..

I just put this fan here 10 minutes ago, does this look like a horrible idea? lol

Personally i dont think 78-80 is bad at all. My 20 usually played in that ballpark, and i didnt see any thing wrong with it.

I think the fan should def help with temp, but not with evap. Just moniter the two and find a happy middle.

Another thing to try is when your not home, or looking at the tank, leave the canopy doors open to exhaust the heat. i did that with my 20 as well.
