thanks! I was just worried with the first summer around the corner it might creep higher than the 80. So I was trying to bring it down to the 76-78 range. I would open the canopy doors, but the halides are pretty blinding!! haha

Why not just get( 2 ) 4 inch case fans and install them in the canopy ends? Can be done for pretty cheap, super quiet, and should help keep your heat down pretty well. Just put one that brings cold air into the canopy and the other pushing it out the other end.

Also, I would think it would be better to run the heater @ a higher temp and minimize your swings vs keeping the temp low.

Well temps did stay within 76.1-76.7 every time I looked today. But evaporation was also noticeably more too.

The fan sitting there like that will not be a solution, but it's comforting to know I can manage this without spending $$ on a chiller!

The canopy does have a fan on each side, both blowing outwards though. They look a little dated, and I'm sure could use a cleaning. Shin has also suggested the one blowing in / one out idea. I really need to take it off the tank, clean it and flip one around. (Note to self: stop being lazy! lol)

Id do one in, one out. It brought the temp of my tank down two degrees from when they were blowing in.

Also depends on size. I'd make em big ole honk'n fans. LOL So heres how it goes, bigger circumference causes less noise to produce the same cubic feet of air movement, so you could opt for the same noise level and have a ton more air, or much quieter with the same air flow you have.
