I am getting long stringy looking "stuff" all over the tank. Took hold it seemed like overnight. I am going to the store in the AM to get a better camera lens to post pics. Will the expense of this hobby never end? ;D The reasons I come up with to spend money have the wife a little on edge.::) But hey it will be a great lens for family pics or vacations. With a little help of my mind I can justify almost anything:cheesy:

Any idea what the stringy algae is? it is on the rocks but mostly on the sand. Some is red and some is green. Seem to start right after a fish passed on from injury.

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like Cyano( Red slime) and Long Hair Algae, but some good pics from that new lens would do the trick.;)

I am with Luna and Mike so far - sounds like Cyano with some flow on it. While waiting on the camera - check here and see if you can ID it. Tho I suspect the advice will be the same....post the tanks parameters and lets start there.

    trial page, algae ID

Sorry Tony, I forgot this presumably rhetorical question that I just can’t let pass by…..Yes, it absolutely will – the day you drain your tank is the day, not a day before :)

The lens is in and here are the pics. Still learning the best way to use lens but pics should be OK. One note of interest. Last night when I went to bed there was a lot more of this stuff. Picked up a cleaning crew yesterday. Skunk cleaner, Serpent star. green emerald crab and added to the hermits and snails by 9. 3 more snails and 6 hermits.;D
