I have had a long tube anenome for over a year, and researched and found that the clowns will not host with it. The arms are too long, where in a bubble tip, the "arms" are shorter. The long tube would just surround the clown and eat it. Sorry :(

All my fish stay clear of it. So, I wouldn't worry to much. But still is a really cool anenome. My son calls it spagetti cuz its always swaying in the current. I feed it fresh shrimp from supermarket, and also using a turkey baster, shoot some mysis at it about once every two weeks.

you dont "need" them to host anything. they will mate without an anemone. they will host something in your tank eventually. powerheads, filters, heater, you name it theyl host it eventually. good luck.

I have had Rose Bubble tips(2 of them) but kept loosing them until I discovered that the tiger cowrie I added was causing them stress and grief (They apparently eat anenomies..

Got rid of the Tiger and added a purple long tenticled anenomie, but clowns ignore it (Same as the rose bubbletips) but they love their toadstool mushroom.. lol

What a lot of people don't realize is that clowns don't have a natural-born immunity to the anemone's sting, it's something they have to acquire unless they were born in the anemone, and many tank-raised clowns won't bother. I had one that tried with a bubble-tip when I first introduced it into the tank-- he got stung and won't go near another anemone.

If you really want a clown/anemone pair, the easiest way to ensure that is to buy them as a hosting pair. Not saying they can't pair later, but it's a long shot, in my opinion.

I recently bought 2 percula clowns to put in a cycling tank ...now up and running fully. They paired almost immediately ....perhaps even in the bag during the drive home. I put a blue tip anemone in a day later. Its taken a day or 2 but theyre pairing up with the anemone. Its tentacles are shorter.

On another note, I did notice the perculas were sticking to the anemone (very slightly) upon entering. The anemone wasnt pulling them in, simply sticking. Theyre in it 60 or more % of the time. I believe these clowns are tank bred as well.

Most clowns tend to host shorter tentacles and bubble tips. I did have an OC in the past that paired with a long tip that I once had tho. Nature has rules ...but often inconsistent. Best of luck!
