I've had this LTA 2 days (!) and it doesn't look good this morning. It's been a while since I've had an anenome so I can't tell the difference between when its expelling waste or dying. The mouth doesn't seem to be gaping. The tentacles are still sticky. No tissues coming off it yet but the mouth doesn't look 'good either.
Salinity is good about .023 0 ammonia nitrates were at 5.0 and I did a 2.5g water change.
Temp is questionably low. Thermostat in the house says 72. I dont have a heater because I live in FL and its usually 82 in the house. Im waiting for LPS to open so I can go buy a heater.
Everything in my reef got fed a lot yesterday. Can someone look at the mouth of this anenome and tell me if that's waste or decomposition.

    ANY suggestions or advice?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
When ever I see mesenterial filaments through a gaping oral opening I consider that a bad sign. A gaping oral opening with acclimation while unsettling is not unusual.

Hard to say for sure, but any further decline as well as a detectable ammonia would make it a lost cause in my book.

    ugh...yeah it's not a very encouraging sign...
I'll keep testing the ammonia and if I lose the anenome I won't get another, as obviously my tank isn't ready for one.

rushed the anenome back to LFS along with the Clark's clown and my fleshy brain.
Traded for some zo's, blue mushrooms and a pretty orange clown who much to my surprise eats right from my hand.
I really didn't want to go through something dying on my watch and getting an anenome this early on wasn't the best decision I've made.

    Excellent decision.

The idea of keeping a nem is so intriguing, and doing so successfully is thoroughly impressive and fascinating; however, most older reefers have learned (many, the hard way) that a nem in a reef tank is like playing with fire. Once one decides to take a stroll, everything it touches gets stung. :-/
