HELP! I think my LTA is puking it's guts out. The tentacles are looking shriveled up and there is a bunch of curly white stuff coming from the foot. It also appears there is some white crap floating from both the foot and mouth ends. I've had him for a couple of days and took about an hour to acclimate him. His color hasn't changed but the tank has a bunch of crap floating around. As of the 8th my params are as follows: PH - 8.2, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Phos are all 0, Calcium is 400, KH is 11, Temp is 78.6. What's going on?

Im sorry to say but it doesnt sound good. What kind of lighting do you have?
If you smell the water and it doesnt smell good, then hes dead already.

Water smells fine, like the ocean. I've got 4 22" 65k 50/50 actinic pc lights.

How tall is the tank? I think that your lights are not helping. If your tank is higher than 24", thats not enough light. Try placing him really high, but it might be to late.

Tanks 24" high. I remember reading a post about an anenome where they were talking about the anenome filling the tank with "sperm". Is this a possibility. I'm moving him higher now.

I could be wrong, but I think that your lighting isnt enough. You need AT LEAST T-5's.If I were in your shoes, I would be looking into a better lighting system like MH's, esp for a tank like yours(110g) If you dont change them, you wouldnt be able to keep corals alive. Try this guy, hombby or Aquarium supplies for your tropical fish tank, saltwater fish tank, saltwater aquarium fish, freshwater aquarium fish & reef aquarium. Aquarium filters, aquarium lighting, aquarium tanks, protein skimmers & more for your reef tank.

I moved him higher and the lights lower so he's much closer now. When I moved him I touched his tentacles and noticed they are still sticky. I'm also re testing my water, Ammonia is 0, Nitrites are 0, Nitrates are 0, PH is 8.2. Any other suggestions?

The sticky tentacles is a good sign, for it shows that he is still alive. What is your sg ?

light doesnt affect so much the anemones.. i have 1 (since '04) in this tank under 2x20W T5 ... the tank is in the sys of the bigger tank.. but the light isnt much.. and this anemone is here since 4 years.. living w/o troubles.. and had 3 more in the same tank (20g tank) but dead for the "boiled-trouble" 2 years ago.. only this survived.. (with 2 clownfish)

do you feed the anemone ? water movement ?

It is normal for anemones to go through a "break in" period, if u wanna call it that. The stuff coming out of this mouth and/or butt could just be waste. Make sure the waterflow isn't too much for it. Anemones will find a sweet spot once completely acclimated. I don't think yours it's dead. If you see its mouth wide open almost in like an inside out sort of way, then you should worry. What color is it? is it white? If it is, then the anemone is suffering from bleaching....bleaching occurs from wrong handling techniques, water qualitiy at the LFS, etc etc. Have you notice if it opens wide during the night hours, but closes itself a bit during the day? if you have, then it has bleached a bit and the light is just too much for it, but it will get better. Most LFSs will tell you to feed it once a week, but IMO during the first few weeks, you should feed at least twice a week. Read this and you'll have a better understanding about anemones: Beginner's Guide to Anemones hope this helps. Good luck.
