I got this about a week ago. He seems to be going downhill.

I noticed this morning that it seems to be separating from its plate.

    Is it dieing?

though a very nice coral, it is very hard to keep in captivity, one of those corals that i would not really get my hands on unless you really know what you're doing with it

literally... don't ever touch these with your bare hands (kills them)... they do not react well to skin at all.

Was one of the first corals I lost actually... Oh well live and learn I guess

    good luck

Yeah, I'd say it's looking pretty bad right now. I wouldn't expect too much from it now.
Is it in a high flow area? I would try to put in in the lowest flow area possible because it kinda looks like its being ripped off the base.
    Good luck

another thing I had tried... bc my hermits were all over it... I put some substrate in a martini glass and put the coral in that.

had a neat look, but the coral ended up dying anyway...

keep in mind though, they move, so don't let it run off the edge of the glass if you try that ;)

My fish are always picking at it. I fear it is doomed.

I believe they can move by expansion and contraction, basically they puff up and when they deflate they end up coming down in a slightly different location, slow work but it happens.
