I'm a very paranoid person lol

I've noticed that I can see my butterfly's spine, when he swims certain ways. I know these are very thin fish, but could this be lateral line disease? He eats like a champ at feeding time. I just need a second opinion. Here's a pic:

Would need a much closer pic to tell for certain, but if there are no lesions, you're most likely just seeing the lateral line itself. It is more prominent with some fish, especially thin-bodied species as well as many large predators.

I don't see and lesions or open wounds. What should I watch for to make sure its not just starting?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
What do you specifically feed the fish?

How long have you had the fish?

That does not look like LLD but a nutrition issue.

What types of fish does the Bufferfly have to compete with for food?

    Water quality? Parameters please.

I usually feed frozen mysis, and brine soaked in kent Zoe, and I have been soakin all his food in Zoe lately. I've had him about a month. It really doesn't have to compete with anyone, but the others have to compete with him lol. But I have a falcula butterfly, a occ. clown and a bicolor angel. I've been meaning to get some rods food because I know his diet isn't the best with just what I'm feeding. Ammonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates are about 20. I'm trying to get them even lower.

What do you recommend I feed my fish? I was thinking of buying more pods, because he munched all of my current ones. But is mysis, soaked brine and rods enough? None of my fish even look at dried foods.

Edit- I also fed dried seaweed once, he seemed to like it.

I was thinking of purchasing some frozen krill, cyclop eze , and rods. Do you think rotating these foods along with the mysis will help?

For a butterfly, I would also recommend looking into mussels and cockle to add to their diet. I find the key to long term butterfly success is a VERY VARIED DIET...seriously

    +1 to ^^^ 110%.

FWIW, I've found the same to be true for dwarf angels, as well.
