You will want to do something with that trigger. It won't be long before he is eating shrimp, messin with snails and possibly nipping coral. They also like to "play" with things like in tank heaters, powerheads and other stuff. They spit water as well. I've seen it.

That's a good feeling.... Especially when the LFS is 30 minutes away.

There's nothing in your tank that needs halides, let alone 3-250 watters. You're using more energy than you need to power the lights and then you're going to expend too much energy trying to dissipate the heat generated by them. You'll also have a lot more issues with nuisance algae with bright lights like that.

    That's a great start there!

I was thinking I either needed to put some more light intensive corals in there or cut back a bit on the halides. I would love to get some SPS after things are a bit more stable.

On the trigger, I have heard that they can be a bit of a troublemaker. This really sucks as he is really fun to watch and one of my favorites that I received with the tank. I would love to keep him, but I agree it's probably best to part with him now before I am too attached.

The Scopas seems to be feeling well and is definitely eating as well as the others. I have not seen any improvements on his appearance though.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am definitely excited to have the new tank.

I am still amazed at how much water I am going through. I have to top off at least once per day, sometimes twice. Is it normal for this size tank to go through 3-5 gallons of water per day in evaporation?

I respectfully disagree with you. There's a carpet nem in the tank from, if those pictures are current.

As far as evaporation.....yes it is. Depending on the climate and the temp in your house. I go through about 5 gallons per day during the summer and about 2.5 in the winter.

Good call on the carpet nem. The pictures are current and it is alive and well with all halides running.

As for the water evaporation, it's a big jump from the 5 gallons a week I went through with my previous 46 gallon! Very glad to be getting the spectrapure RO/DI soon.

Oh, yeah... lots of evaporation. Especially with the halides. I go through almost 7 gallons a day on my 150G.

Make sure you feed that nem well.....I have seen them eat very large fish and it is typically the most expensive fish in your tank. A friend of mine lost their Sohal and a blue jaw trigger to one of these. They are no joke.
