never had a great dane but for large dogs I'm a huge fan of the German Mastifs, their great with kids and really easy to train, their only real downside is the 180-200lbs dog can eat you out of house and home

My brother's Chihuahua (named Rambo, no less) is a MONSTER. Our Doberman was a big baby!

We are looking at female so we are looking at about 120 to 140lb range. Figured it will put my cats in their place.

In high school, I went door to door selling siding, thermal windows, guttering, etc. I've never been bit by a pit bull, a doberman, a rotweiler. I've been bit many times by Cocker Spaniels and various "rat dogs" that the owners said wouldn't bite. I got smart after a while. When told their little "rat dog" wouldn't bite, I just started saying, "Are you sure? Because if it does bite me, I'll kick it". That worked well and they always picked up the mangy little mutt.

Cocker Spaniels are so cute. When I had visited my buddy in FL; before I had moved here he had one which he said had never bit anyone. So within 5 minutes of being in his house I had to hold it on both sides of it's face so it did not latch on to me. Needles to say he got ride of it within a couple days. I have also been bit a couple times and you are right it is always the little bastards.

Anyways talked to the breeder today and they had the sonogram which revealed it is going to be a big litter. This is good news as we will have a better chance of getting a show quality Great Dane. Pups do around June 10th..then have to wait 12 weeks. Maybe we will come to our senses by then. Ha thats a joke

in JR. high a buddy of mine had this pug, anyway him, myself and this other guy were sitting around one day, other dude starts slappin the dog around, dog jumps up grabs his "junk" and hangs off it swinging full body weight side to side, we had to rush him to the ER laughing our @$$es off the entire way while he was screamin, moral of the story, it's not the size of the dog it's if it knows where to latch on to

    ROFL ;D

I like the bigger breeds, would really like to get a Siberian husky when I get a house eventually. I can't stand those little ankle biters.

Are you talking about dogs or kids? We always referred to little kids as ankle biters! Especially little vicious ones - like 2-year-olds!
