looking for 100# of sand

Hey I'm looking to purchase 100lbs of sand the only thing I can find in NC is at LFS's which they are wanting to burn me up on it. does anyone have and they possibly would be looking to get rid of or where they have access to and would be willing to ship ppd.

Do you have a Home Depot nearby? Many threads on this Sand board about the sand from there.

 

I've contacted every home depot within 200 miles and none have southdown, oldcastle, or yardright. everything I have been able to find is silicate. If anyone has access to 2 50#bags pm or e-mail me @wet9500@aol.com. I'd be glad to pay for it and to have it shipped I'm running out of possibilies of finding it.

How far is the beach?

 

Only about 100 miles but don't know how clean the beaches are here and It's not a real white sand though.

I was half joking... although I do have local beach sand in my tank. Mine isn't white, but I like it.

Have you tried all your local fish stores or reef clubs? Someone might do a group buy...

 

Will sterilized silica sand work also or do I need to wait for tropical sand.

 

I've heard a lot of back and forth on silica sand. But the last I heard was that concerns were overblown and that the silica won't leach. So I'd be tempted to go that route if I had too.

 

Wet9500 if you want I can check out the Home Depot by me I live in upstate NY. That is were I got mine from. I don't know how much it would cost to ship it to you, :-/ But if you want I will check it out for you............ John
