Hello everyone, hope you all had a good labor day weekend.
I'm currently looking for a new quiet skimmer for my 20 gal. My roommate says my skimmer is too loud, which is a AquaC Remora. I don't have a problem with the noise but I don't want to make the roommate mad. Kind of looking at the ones that stand alone outside of the tank, but any suggestions would be great! Also I'm hoping to upgrade the tank in the future (year or 2) to somewhere around 45-55gal, so something I can use now and later. Thanks.

The coralife needlewheel skimmer125 works pretty good and is not very expensive for a tank the sizes you are talking about. They all make some noise though.

That Remora is an awesome skimmer and I wouldn't get rid of it. Fold up a piece of a paper-towel and put it over the section with the injector nozzle. Will make it almost silent.

Yes they do. You have a great skimmer with that Remora. The only other skimmer I would recommend would be an Octopus BH100F, and that's another HOB with probably the same noise factor. Dude, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This doesn't sound broke to me. You can save up for a really good skimmer when you get your tank in the future. By then you may want a 75 or a 110, which will change the game altogether. Just for fun, the skimmers I like for the 110 are:

PM Bullet-2, AquaC EV 180, ETSS 600XR Professional and the Deltec MCE600. Just for fun, check those out.

    Peace.......John.

Yeah I like the Remora too. Would putting a timer on it to run during the day a good idea? or maybe I'll move the whole tank to the other wall =/
