are you looking for HOB or in-sump? Also "quiet" can vary for everyone. I have an HOB AquaC Remora that I think is quiet, but it does produce sound similar to a dentist drain but nothing loud IMO.

From my experience, anything but aquac. I just got a bubble magus nac7 and it is literally silent. Swc makes a similar design too. Reef octopus I've nothing but good things about either.

The eshopps psk-100h (HOB) with the new impeller is dead silent and does a great skimming job. I'm a fan.

Both my Aqua C 180 & PM Bullet 3 are "blessed" with a constant air whistle (sucking sound)...likely typical of Becket style skimmers...even with a "muffler" on the air supply you can still hear them...but, they do skim!

I have a reef octopus bh100f and it's extremely quiet. It can take care of tanks up to 90gl.
