Looking For a return pump

    Im looking for a submersible return pump for a 150 gallon aquarium im trying for a seven time turnover at about 4.5-5 ft . What do you think for about a magdrive 18 if not what pump do you suggest? thanx for any suggestions.

    A Mag-12 will give you, what, about 900GPH or so at 5'. I am just guestimating here. That's about right. A Mag-18 will give you around 1400-1500GPH. You could use a Mag 18 and shoot for closer to 10x which is what I try for in my system. If it is too much, you can always dial it down a bit with a ball valve. Do you have internal or external overflows?

    I was gonna suggest Mag too. I had a Mag9 on my 150 before I accidentall broke it and to resort to using a Rio2500 until I get another Mag. I would suggest at least 12 like Pharmr suggested, the 9 wasn't enough, speaking from personal experience.

    I have a marineland 150 single drain corner flow, with one inch bulk head.
    Do you think that it could drain 1400 to 1500 gph?

    I'm using a mag18 on a 90 gallon, I'd probably say a mag24 would be about perfect
