In the process of building a new sump/refugium out of a 29 gallon tank I just bought. It will be placed under my 57 gallon tank. current live stock includes 2 ocellaris clowns, royal gramma, orange spotted goby, bout a dozen hermits, 5 astrea, sandsifting star, 2 cleaner shrimp,8 or so nassarius, have frogspawn, hammer, candy cane, and torch coral, derasa clam and crocea clam.... no immediate plans to add any more live stock. but I would like to add a mandarin goby in a few months once I get my refugium up and running with pods.
My Skimmer chamber is going to be 10L x 11w x 14 tall...been looking at reef octopus but wasnt sure if anyone has a better recommendation or another brand that I could/should look at. Looking to spend between $200-$400
    Thanks

Honestly, with such a light bioload, I wouldn't bother with a skimmer. You have corals that prefer some nutrients, and you'll need algae in the fuge for the pods which will also require nutrients for survival....

Mr. Bill is my arch nemesis in the "skimmer" department. I would never run a tank without a skimmer. Can it be done? Sure it can but it's not something I would do. It's added filtration and IMO our water can never be too clean. With this being said, I have much respect for Mr. Bill and I'm certain he can reef circles around me. So here's my .02 on the topic. I don't think anyone can ever go wrong with reef octopus. I personally have an old nw300? (it's the 8 inch skimmer) that has been running for about 5 years now and it still performs great and I haven't even really thought of changing it. In that price range, I would go with this: Reef Octopus NWB110 4

If you don't plan to add fish I've seen algae turf scrubbers which should take care of your nutrient issues.IMHO most skimmers have same bodies and its just the quality of build.personally I have a asm g series works pretty good in my 72 gallon
