    I have a 55 gallon reef tank and I wanted to know what anyone would suggest for a good, reliable protein skimmer.

    Octopus is good. A NW110 should be fine for you. Are looking for an in the sump skimmer of hang on back of tank?

    The AquaC Remora that KI have for sale in the classifieds would be perfect. I used it on my 55 when I had it set up.

    I am looking for a hang on the back skimmer, the main problem i am having with my bak pak skimmer is having to empty it too frequently(it will fill within about 15 minutes) i am looking for a skimmer that can last at least a day without having to empty it.

    when it was new... daily... seemed like i couldn't keep the cup high enough...


    after a few weeks, it started getting more stable and I was getting better at putting the cup in the right spot. it's grown over time, but after several months I now have to change it about every two weeks. I love it.

    But I would recommend playing with your cup height... how long have you had your current skimmer?
