I'm am planning a 180g and am just looking for help planning this as this will be my first truely reef ready tank and I want to do this one better than the rest. I think I am going to start out with just live rock and reef fishes first with the intention of going full mixed reef a little later down the road. I currently have a 40B w/ 20g sump with about 40 lbs of live rock as my current tank so this 180g will be a nice upgrade.;D

So far I have the 180g, stand and canopy.

Here is a list of the equipment I am thinking about using:

    Skimmer: SRO3000int or SRO XP3000

    Return pump: Mag 18

    Elos auto top off

    Lights: Either a retrofit with (3) 175 -250w halides with supplementing (2) VHO actinics 72" or I will use a 60" ATI T5 8-10 bulb fixture instead.

Powerheads: 2 koralia magnums and maybe 2 more koralias depending on what is being kept later down the road.

    Sump: 40 breeder

10g reservoir for top off water

2 reactors (carbon and GFO) powered by 2 mj1200

    RKL L3 controller

    (2) 250 jager heaters controlled by the RKL

    (3) dosing pumps for alk, cal and mag controlled by the RKl

7" wide filter sock for the drains

100-120 lbs BRS eco rock (want to do some minimal aquascaping)

140 lbs of dry aragonite sand

Marine pure ceramic biopure blocks if needed for extra biological filtration in the sump.

Plumbing method will be most likely the herbie method.

Anything else I should add or should change?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a good plan.
The sro xp3000 is an awesome skimmer IMO. I doubt you will need a bio pure block with that much lr.
Maybe a vortech instead of the koralias?

I thought about vortecs or tunzes. Those are definitely down the road when I go full reef.
