I'm looking for a photo of a Tridacna Maxima in Gold. My LFS has what they are calling a Tridacna Maxima about 2 1/2 inched long. I never really wanted a clam but this one is amazing. But before i buy I need to do some research.
He wants $39.00 for it? :p

    Awesome! Great clam.

Is he happy on the rock?
My old clam would always kick off and go the sand. Some are better on sand but I can't remember which ones (Help!).

How close to the light is he?

He/she seems happy. very responsive and open. Everything I read said to place him on rock or shallow sand with rock underneath so I placed him about 1/3 of the way up on a rock. I don't know if he's attached yet, but my Tang keeps flying around and the clam does not move. I would say 16 inches from the lights.

    Cool. 8) Sounds good.

(You should post an update on your tank thread with some new pics. ;) I am also curious about your AGA overflow float.)

Sure will. I'll post on the origonal thread.

CLAM Experts. Wondering if these marks are bleaching or do to stress? or is it just the natural markings of this clam

Those are natural, its doing just fine.  Mantle exspansion is a good clue, plus the mouth looks around the right size (another great indicator).

Keep your alk/calc/ph right and phosphates down, and you'll have a happy clam ;)

    Thanks Gresham,
I'm usually not one to run out and buy something I know so little about. I had heard of so many problems (Bleaching, Opening size, worms, mantle problems. But I had no indecation of good or bad. Thanks for the reasurance.
