I am just starting my research on this new hobby of mine. 3reef has been the most helpful forum on the web. So thanks to all that have posted. I want to do this right from the start. 3reef seems like the place to go to get answers.
So far this is what my family and I are thinking - 54gal RR corner tank, custom cabinet, tek light T5 24" X 4, ADHI model 30 sump/refugium, ASM g1x
skimmer, ATO, Korillia 2, Mag 7 return pump, glass top(cat/kids), and some sort of ro/di system. Thanks for all the info so far.

Oh yeh I should get some thing to heat the water. You know something like a 200w submersible heater.

Welcome to 3reef! I would go with a titanium heater personally. I've had troubles with the glass ones in the past, but my titanium one rocks! Definitely worth the added bucks. Good luck with the hobby!

Hello and welcome. You might want to trade the glass top for some egg crate if you have to cover the tank.

    Welcome to 3reef!
You may not really need an ATO system if you are keeping a cover on your aquarium as evaporation should be minimal. And it's always nice to be able to add your calc/alk chemicals in some sort of top-off medium when they need adding. Should really not have more than 1-2 gallons of evaporation a week.

I like the idea about the egg crate for the top I was not a big fan of the glass top.
