So I'm officially ready to jump into biopellets. There is so much information about different brands and reactors that I gave up researching.
I have 100g reef with med - heavy bioload.
    Any advice?
Brs sells a reactor with pellets for pretty cheap but it says up to a 75g, but I heard you start off with lower amount of pellets at first anyways right?

I'm in the same boat. It is my understanding it's best to stay conservative with the amount of bio pellets. Do you have LPS or softies ?
    I'm looking into recirculating units.

yes, definitely start off with 1/4 of the recommended amount and slowly increase. The most important thing IMO is to have good skimming and to put the output of the reactor into the intake of your skimmer. You want the pellets to have a good/slow tumble for results - just so the pellets continue to move. There's some videos on line that show the tumble.

I'm thinking of restarting my reactor as well :) Since I added my sump and refugium I was going to see if that was going to be sufficient but I am having some phosphate problems and continue to have nitrates :(

I used the BRS pellet reactor on my 65 and was not impressed. I could never get it to tumble the pellets for any length of time, they would constantly clump after a day or so. I finally ended up modding the reactor and it worked much better, however I would be inclined to look into other makes/models if I were to do it over again. Doesn't make sense to buy something to tear it apart and throw half away and re-build to me.

I got the mod for the reactor from a thread on here I can see if I can dig it up if you'd like. Just let me know.

I modded my TLF phosban reactor as well but it was not designed for biopellets. Believe me, if I was able to "mod" anything, it's incredibly easy lol

It's really dependant on your budget. The brs unit is subpar. I just purchased a reef synergy unit, with a sicce pump and all the pluming for around 200 shipped- I would highly recommend this

If money isn't as much of an issue, get a recirculating reactor from reef dynamics. Pretty much the best and come with eheim pumps but run 350 or so

I have a kent marine reactor that I don't use, wonder if I could modify that to run them. Never thought about that.

Trying to keep it under 100 at least. Which I know isn't a lot but that's what I got. Just purchased new lights and test kits so the budget is low lol

I modded a TLF reactor, and it works, but certainly doesn't hold enough pellets. If you had aq pump and tubing, the synegry reactor for that size tank is just 75 and looks awesome- because looks are important

    Also- use Eccobak.

It takes awhile for the pellets to get established (think cycle) so maybe start with the Kent unit and upgrade? I just don't think it would hold enough pellets for a tank that size
