hello everyone i really just need help buying a light i really hate people when you go to a store and they tell you you need this and this and this, and then you end up buying things you tell do not need.

i have a 30g breeder tank it is 13.5 inches high
and 18.5 inches wide and three 3 feet long.

so i really think i might be a hard light to find seeing that the tank is a little irregular.

and i have a saltwater tank. nothing in it but live send.
and i'm going to be putting live rock in there so i need a light.
now for the tank being only 13.5 inches in high do i really need a big light
i really do not want to put more then 200 dollars into a light.

I would look either for a 150w MH pendant or a T5 light. However, first thing is, have you gone through a cycle yet? You said you don't have any rock in there, are you planning on getting the light then just adding coral?

Also, a 36" light is a very common length, you should have no trouble finding one. I do want to add that spend the money now for a good light. You will end up spending much more later on if you buy a cheap fixture.

Nope, you can put the rock in before you have an expensive light.

someone told me to go dry rock 5lb and then 15 to 10 lb or live rock

you think i could just go 15 lb of live rock
    and i have a 30g breeder tank

so is 15 lb to much?

or what type of rock do you guys think looks the best and is better to use

1-2 pounds of rock per gallon.
