Can someone break down what the difference between the 150w and 250w MH's are AND what is the color difference with MH bulbs (10,000 14,000 20,000)

Can i get some input from people who have MH and what they prefer!

150w and 250w is the electrical wattage the fixture requires to run the bulb
10k, 15k, 20k bulbs are the light spectrum emitted by the bulbs, I believe the higher the k the bluer the spectrum, many people seem to prefer something in the middle but it really comes down to personal preference. also the spectrum can vary a bit by manufacturer... so not all 10k's are identicle

my own setup is a 400w with a reeflux 14k bulb wich is very bright with enough blue to help the color of the corals (when i finally get a few)

Your running one 400w MH on your 90g? How long is your tank and what shape reflector do you have?

    Lumen Bright 3 pendant/ coralvue 400w ballast
    400w reeflux 14k MH bulb
    tank dimentions are 48Lx18Wx24H

my setup is a bit unusual, most would probably prefer 2 250w fixtures instead of the 1 400w that is centered over the tank and kind of leaves the lowest corners a bit shady

Geekdafied broke this down better than most some time ago. If you read this post, you'll get all your questions answered. The wattage is the amount of power in watts that the lights draw. It's also an indicator of the output. A 400W halide is much brighter and burns much hotter than a 150W bulb. The color temp, or kelvin rating is an indicator of the color the bulb burns. 10K is a whitish/yellowish burn, while 20K is "cooler" and on the bluer side.

    I run two, 250W, 20K halides above my 90.
