So I have a Vertex In-100, it is one of the newer Gen 3 models. Since day 1 I have noticed the skimmer pump doesn't fit very snug into the skimmer body. It never really seemed like a big deal, but as time is going on and the skimmer is performing less consistently I am wondering if it is a big deal. I will clean the skimmer cup and have to reposition the pump so microbubbles don't escape. I tried wrapping the output with teflon tape but when I insert it in to the skimmer body it just pushes the teflon tape down. I was thinking electrical tape next, any other suggestions??

If I were you I would get a peice of plastic or something similar to make the female thread a little bit larger, so that when you attach it to the male thread it fits better. You could silicon the pump to the body and that should fix it quite well, but then you obviously wouldnt be able to remove the pump.

I have the very same skimmer and at times it has come loose, however if we apply enough pressure it sort of snap together snug. There maybe a rubber seal or grommet which helps create the water tight seal.

I have never noticed that. I will def take a closer look. Thanks for the input. Because of my sump configuration, I usually have to put attach the pump inside the sump itself and that can be tricky.
