Why is it that disasters only happen when i am out of town???

I had to go to Virginia for business travel. No big deal, tank is stable... my son can feed the fish. I double checked to ensure the ATO was full of RO/DI.... and I happily got on the plane...

During the trip, my wife called me in a panic that the living room was flooding and the tank was overflowing....

She is a wonderful lady, but she knows absolutely nothing about the aquarium and doesn't want to touch anything "fish" related. She tried valiantly to help but in the end I had to tell her to just unplug the tank. Eventually I did talk her through at least getting the K1's on for some water movement.

Loving my tank, I hopped on the first plane back to Houston....

One more story about why drilling your tank is the best solition because overflows can fail. The line from my overflow to my lift pump got clogged... air bubbles formed and the syphon eventually broke. Easy enough to fix.... AFTERWARDS....

Can't find my McCosker Flasher now at all...can't even find a body.... Could the crabs have eaten it that fast???

Corals seem okay.... Still a bummer....

Sorry to hear about the disaster, I think it is possible for the crabs to work that fast. Hopefully the wrasse is just hiding.

Man, Sorry to hear that. If that ever happens again, Let me know. It is a long drive, but I would do it. I had to fix Peredhil's while he was in Paris. His little brother got on 3reef as instructed and called for help.

Real sorry to hear. I'm not totally plugged into the local reefers club. always seem to be working for the meets.... but I do know a few and have some numbers. Having peopel that know what to do can be real helpful. ijust happen to have a coworker watch my tank if I go out of town... usually with the wife....

I guess I'm saying getting involved with the local reef club has a ton of advantages besides having help when out of town.

    Hope your floor is OK.
